We're living through a once-in-a-generation shift in how work gets done. Data, automation, and AI are quickly becoming the center of every business decision - and Alteryx is leading the transformation.

You'll be working on the challenges that sit at the heart of modern business. No matter your role, the work you do will help organizations move faster, see more clearly, and tackle questions that used to feel impossible.

If you're ready to meet the moment with innovation, curiosity, and excellence, there's a place for you here.

Alteryx is searching for a Director, Developer Platform Engineering. This position is remote-friendly.

Overview:
Alteryx is seeking a Director, Developer Platform Engineering to own the strategy and evolution of the platforms, tooling, and practices that power software delivery org-wide. You'll lead the Developer Experience vision — enabling 600+ engineers to build, test, deploy, and operate software faster and more reliably. Your team covers developer productivity, CI/CD, testing infrastructure, local dev environments, release engineering, and AI-powered engineering enablement.

Reporting directly to SVP of Engineering, you'll partner with Product Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, SRE, and Architecture to define the technical strategy and roadmap that lets teams ship faster with less operational complexity.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Platform Strategy — Define the long-term vision for Alteryx's Developer Platform; build a roadmap that standardizes the SDLC and scales across hundreds of engineers.

  • Developer Experience — Own the developer journey end-to-end, from local dev to production; reduce friction across builds, testing, and deployment; champion self-service capabilities.

  • CI/CD & Release Engineering — Modernize CI/CD platforms; standardize pipelines; drive GitOps and progressive delivery (canary, blue/green).

  • Integration Testing — Establish testing strategy and scalable infrastructure for unit and  integration testing.

  • AI-Enabled Engineering — Lead adoption of GenAI and agentic tooling for coding, testing, and docs; define responsible-use best practices.

  • Metrics & Operational Excellence — Define KPIs for developer productivity and platform health; build dashboards to guide investment.

  • Leadership — Recruit and grow a high-performing org; mentor managers and senior engineers; align stakeholders across Engineering.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years in software engineering, with significant experience leading platform engineering or developer infrastructure teams.

  • 5+ years leading managers in large technical organizations.

  • Proven track record setting platform strategy for orgs with hundreds of engineers.

  • Deep knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps, and developer experience practices.

  • Experience leading large-scale engineering transformations.

  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder influence.

Preferred Technical Experience:

  • Kubernetes on AWS, Azure, or GCP.

  • CI/CD platforms (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) and GitOps (ArgoCD, Flux).

  • Build systems (Gradle, Bazel, Nx) and testing infrastructure across unit/integration/e2e/performance.

  • Progressive deployment (canary, blue/green, feature flags) and IDPs/developer portals.

  • DevEx metrics frameworks (DORA, SPACE) and observability platforms.

  • AI-powered dev tools (GitHub Copilot, Anthropic, agentic workflows).

First-Year Success:

  • Unified Developer Platform strategy defined and in motion.

  • Measurable gains in developer productivity via automation and modernization.

  • Standardized CI/CD and release practices across product teams.

  • Expanded AI-powered engineering capabilities.

  • Productivity metrics established to guide investment.

  • A scaled, high-performing Developer Platform org.

Why This Role Matters:
You'll shape how software is built across Alteryx — the tools, platforms, and practices every engineering team relies on.

Compensation:

Alteryx is committed to fair, equitable, and transparent compensation. Final compensation is determined by several factors, including but not limited to relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.
