Shape our future of technical validation by engineering high-impact, realistic security demonstration and testing environments for our pre-sales engineering teams worldwide. In this highly influential role, you will architect, scale, and automate cutting-edge lab platforms that empower global solutions engineering teams to showcase the full power of the Rapid7 Command Platform.
About the Team
The Solutions Experience team bridges engineering and customer-facing technical teams to build scalable, production-grade demonstration architectures. As part of a global team, you will empower Rapid7's pre-sales engineers and technical champions by delivering reliable, on-demand lab environments that bring complex threat scenarios to life.
About the Role
As a Staff Solutions Experience Architect, your primary responsibility will be to lead the architecture, automation, and operational stability of our global Sales Engineering lab platforms. Specifically, your focus will be to:
  • Architect, scale, and maintain resilient cloud and virtualized lab environments ensuring seamless, highly reliable demonstration experiences for global go-to-market teams.
  • Build automated, real-world security scenarios within lab infrastructure, including simulating active malware attacks, exposure exploit paths, and detection workflows.
  • Lead the technical strategy and execution to consolidate distributed lab requests into an intuitive, self-service web interface and tooling platform for internal stakeholders.
  • Partner directly with Product Management and Engineering to stage, test, and integrate new product launches, platform features, and acquired technologies into customer-ready demonstration frameworks.
  • Own the technical readiness, architecture, and live operational stability for high-stakes industry security conferences and major technical evaluations.
  • Provide technical leadership and root-cause resolution for complex infrastructure-level outages and performance degradations across lab systems.
  • Establish clear project execution standards, delegation frameworks, and task tracking mechanisms to drive accountability and transparency across infrastructure initiatives.
  • Drive alignment with internal Information Security and Platform Engineering stakeholders to ensure all demo environments adhere to rigorous security governance and compliance standards

The skills and qualities you'll bring include
  • Deep technical expertise in architecting and operating public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) alongside virtualized infrastructure.
  • Previous sales engineering or solutions engineering experience a plus
  • Previous experience partnering with pre-sales to enhance the demo experience
  • Advanced proficiency with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, and modern CI/CD deployment pipelines.
  • Demonstrated experience with systems scripting and software development (Python, Bash, PowerShell, or modern web frameworks) to design internal tooling and service interfaces.
  • Strong background in systems administration and networking across diverse enterprise environments, including Linux, Unix, and Windows Server platforms.
  • Hands-on familiarity with cybersecurity operations, adversary techniques, and simulating offensive security scenarios within safe, contained architectures.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise security platforms, exposure management solutions, and detection and response workflows.
  • Proven ability to break complex, multi-quarter technical initiatives into iterative milestones, prioritizing rapid execution while maintaining long-term platform vision.
  • Natural inclination to establish clear technical ownership, mentor team members, and drive alignment across distributed teams without requiring day-to-day supervision.
  • Strong track record of navigating ambiguous technical requirements, driving consensus with security governance teams, and championing forward-looking architectural choices.
  • Ability to translate intricate infrastructure and engineering concepts into clear, actionable technical plans that gain immediate commitment from cross-functional leaders.
  • Embody our core values to foster a culture of excellence that drives meaningful impact and collective success.
