About the Role

As part of our continued expansion in the United States, abm is looking for a Sales Account Manager to manage and grow our U.S. West Territory, with a West Coast base location preferred. This role is responsible for managing and expanding existing customer accounts and developing new relationships across academic, biotech, pharma, CRO, government, and research institutions.

You will act as a key point of contact for customers in the region, identifying needs, proposing tailored solutions, and driving business growth. The ideal candidate will bring both sales expertise and a strong understanding of the life sciences sector, with a proactive, customer-first mindset. Experience selling cell lines, cell-based products, or related life science research products is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and expand customer accounts across the U.S. West Territory, including key life science hubs and academic, biotech, pharma, CRO, government, and research institutions
  • Identify new business opportunities and drive revenue growth
  • Build long-term relationships with researchers, laboratory leaders, procurement contacts, and other key decision-makers and influencers.
  • Conduct regular customer meetings, both virtually and in person, to understand research needs and identify opportunities for abm products and services.
  • Develop territory and account plans, prioritize high-potential customers, and maintain a healthy sales pipeline.
  • Identify customer needs and work with internal technical and product teams to recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Meet or exceed assigned revenue targets, sales KPIs, and territory growth objectives.
  • Maintain accurate and timely customer, opportunity, pipeline, forecast, and activity information in the CRM system.
  • Collaborate closely with Technical Support, Marketing, Customer Service, Operations, and other internal teams to provide a strong customer experience.
  • Represent abm at regional conferences, trade shows, scientific meetings, and other customer-facing events.
  • Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity and provide feedback to support commercial strategy.
  • Travel regularly within the assigned territory for customer meetings, conferences, and events, with occasional travel to other abm locations as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or a related discipline; an advanced degree is an asset.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in business development, account management, or technical sales within the life sciences or biotechnology sector.
  • Strong understanding of the U.S. life science research, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical markets.
  • Experience selling cell lines, primary cells, cell-based products, research reagents, or related life science products is strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing customers within the Western U.S. and/or an established customer network in the region is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop customer relationships, identify sales opportunities, and grow revenue.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to independently manage a geographic territory and competing priorities.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Willing and able to travel regularly throughout the assigned territory.

Work Location

  • This is a remote position, with California preferred

Employment Type

  • Full-time, one-year fixed-term employment to start, with the expectation of conversion to permanent employment based on first-year performance

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: Annual USD $90,000 – $105,000, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications
  • Eligible for a performance-based sales incentive plan
  • Paid time off and company holidays
