Job Summary

In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead corporate value communications activities on multiple client engagements, as well as work with integrated teams to provide strategic counsel on product-focused campaigns and announcements. You will serve as a trusted partner to clients, manage team members in identifying solutions to business problems, and create data-driven strategic public affairs, communications and thought leadership campaigns. The position offers a great opportunity for an individual with a passion for the issues shaping health care today, experience engaging with business decision-makers, and desire to help grow and evolve a strategic consultancy.

Our practice specializes in communicating at intersection of health economics, health policy and corporate reputation. Our top performers have experience in and/or strong intellectual curiosity in public health, public policy, health coverage and access issues and similar issues. Responsibilities

  • Strategy Development & Subject Matter Expertise

  • Firm understanding of the health care system landscape and policy topics; able to interpret complex issues and generate insights to create custom, strategic point-of-views relevant to a client’s business needs.
  • Experience developing clients’ corporate, public policy and/or drug pricing communications strategies; collaborates with multiple internal stakeholders to develop consensus around tactics and ensure seamless incorporation into broader client business objectives
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills – comfortable at establishing a strategic dialogue with clients as well as stakeholders from across the pharmaceutical supply chain (e.g., payers, policymakers, researchers, advocates, third-party organizations)
  • Develops presentations, creative briefs, written materials (e.g., editorial bylines, newsletters, strategy memos) and other strategic internal/external communications surrounding the health care and health policy landscape that meet the client’s objectives.
  • Partners with functional area-experts within Real Chemistry in support of integrated communications and public affairs campaigns.
  • Supports business development through proactively identifying and pursuing opportunities for growth with existing clients, and provides strategic support, creative thinking, presentation development as part of the new business process.
  • Management & Mentorship

  • Supervise specialist team and promote continuous learning and development to help maintain a high performing culture. Ensure technical and operational excellence in all executions, including support to junior team in understanding client objectives, provide health policy and health system change insights.
  • Provide strategic direction for the business, in partnership with internal leadership, to ensure team is always delivering their best work.
  • Client Service

  • Function as the point of contact for client engagements of varying sizes, keeping projects timely and on-budget. Lead operations and maintain financial accountability for the performance of projects through close oversight of budgets.
  • Seamlessly flex between big picture strategic development and ad hoc guidance, ensuring flawless execution of associated activities and tactics; development of quarterly and annual communications plans and business analysis.
  • Maintains clear, consistent communications with colleagues to ensure internal team continues to track against current and emerging client expectations.
  • Partner with practice, shared service leads throughout the business, and team, to find opportunities to streamline, elevate and innovate our tactical processes.

Required Skills & Experience

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a professional environment within the public relations, communications, journalism and / or public affairs/public policy/public health is required. 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • Excellent business and/or health care policy communication skills.
  • Highly organized with a mindfulness of deadlines, the ability to manage multiple tasks based on priorities, a strong attention to detail and experience bringing structure to problems.
  • Independent thinker confident in taking ownership of assets and material development, but a team player who enjoys collaboration.
  • Demonstrates versatility and is constantly learning, growing and stretching; sees around the corner to navigate issues before they arise.
  • Has a professional presence, performs with a sense of urgency and with a profound client service orientation
  • Skilled at converting organic growth opportunities and supporting new business development.
  • Supervisory skills, with ability to manage and cultivate junior staff; demonstrated experience encouraging professional development of direct reports
