Design, develop, and deploy custom ABAP RICEFW solutions to support manufacturing processes (PP, MM, QM, PM). Build interfaces to MES, optimize ABAP performance, implement exits/BAdIs, produce technical specs, and provide Tier 3 support for production-critical issues.
This is a remote position.
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled SAP ABAP Developer with deep functional knowledge of SAP Manufacturing and Supply Chain modules. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying custom ABAP solutions to optimize production, quality, and materials management workflows. You will work closely with functional consultants and business stakeholders to translate complex manufacturing requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions within the SAP environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Custom Development: Design, code, test, and implement complex RICEFW (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, and Workflows) objects specifically supporting manufacturing operations.
- Functional Integration: Collaborate closely with functional teams to develop and enhance processes within SAP PP (Production Planning), MM (Materials Management), QM (Quality Management), and PM (Plant Maintenance).
- Enhancements & Exits: Implement BAdIs, User Exits, and Customer Exits related to production order processing, MRP runs, goods movements, and quality inspections.
- System Integration: Develop and maintain interfaces (using BAPIs, IDocs, RFCs, and OData/REST services) between SAP and external third-party Shop Floor / Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
- Performance Tuning: Optimize and troubleshoot custom ABAP code to ensure high performance and zero disruption to critical factory-floor and supply chain operations.
- Documentation & Support: Create detailed technical specifications from functional design documents and provide Tier 3 support for critical production issues.
Required Qualifications & Technical Skills
- Experience: 7+ years of hands-on experience in SAP ABAP development.
- Manufacturing Expertise: Proven track record of delivering technical solutions within heavy manufacturing or building materials environments.
- Core ABAP Skills:
- Object-Oriented ABAP (OO-ABAP).
- Strong command of Data Dictionary (DDIC), ALV reporting, and Dialog Programming.
- Form development using Adobe Document Services (ADS) / Adobe Forms, SmartForms, or SAPScripts (e.g., printing shop-floor routing sheets, pick lists, and quality certificates).
- Functional Data Knowledge: Deep understanding of core manufacturing database tables and structures (e.g., MARC, AFKO, AFPO, RESB, QALS).
- Interface Technologies: Expertise in ALE/IDoc configuration and custom development, BAPIs, and OData service creation for SAP Fiori applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating within an SAP S/4HANA environment, including knowledge of CDS Views and AMDP (ABAP Managed Database Procedures).
- Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA Manufacturing (ePP/DS) or integration with SAP ME/MII.
- Prior experience within the building materials, infrastructure, or heavy manufacturing industries.
- Strong Agile/Scrum delivery experience.
