MAIN DUTIES: 

 

The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment throughout the property by proactively identifying risks, enforcing safety and security policies, responding to incidents, and providing support to guests and team members. This role balances vigilance with hospitality, ensuring safety is upheld without compromising the guest experience. 

 

GENERAL DUTIES: 

 

  • Patrol hotel property, both interior and exterior, to observe people, conditions, and activities, ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable laws. 

  • Maintain fixed posts or conduct mobile patrols as assigned to monitor activity and prevent theft, vandalism, or unsafe behavior. 

  • Enforce safety and security procedures to ensure a safe environment for guests, residents, visitors, and team members. 

  • Monitor and control access to restricted areas, including back-of-house spaces. 

  • Respond promptly to calls for service, assess situations, take appropriate action, and communicate status updates to management. 

  • Perform crowd control and scene management during incidents, events, or emergencies. 

  • Gather accurate and complete information related to incidents, accidents, or security concerns and prepare detailed reports. 

  • Execute Lost & Found procedures in accordance with company standards. 

  • Monitor employee and vendor access, report unauthorized access, and log vendors and visitors as required. 

  • Escort guests, team members, and valuables as needed using the most efficient and discreet routes. 

  • Respond to incidents involving disturbances, threats, or acts of violence in accordance with company policy and applicable laws. 

  • Detain individuals when necessary and permitted, following established protocols. 

  • Provide medical assistance, including First Aid, CPR, and AED use, within the scope of training until emergency responders arrive. 

  • Maintain knowledge of the location and condition of emergency equipment and medical kits; report deficiencies promptly. 

  • Assist with emergency evacuations and life safety procedures as required. 

  • Communicate clearly and professionally via radio, phone, and in person, using proper radio etiquette and codes. 

  • Maintain a professional, calm, and courteous demeanor at all times, regardless of external pressures. 

  • Promote a positive guest experience while enforcing safety and security standards. 

  • Look for opportunities to assist guests, colleagues, and other departments whenever possible. 

  • Attend required training sessions and apply learned knowledge to daily operations. 

  • Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications; properly store flammable materials. 

  • Ensure compliance with hotel policies, procedures, and standards with self and colleagues. 

  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional. 

  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS: 

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 

  • Prior experience in security, loss prevention, military, or law enforcement preferred. 

  • Luxury hotel or resort experience strongly preferred. 

  • Must be at least 21 years of age. 

  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required (or ability to obtain). 

  • Alcohol Awareness certification required (or ability to obtain). 

  • Any required state or local security licenses must be obtained and maintained. 

  • Must successfully complete company-required security training and annual assessments. 

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills; additional languages a plus. 

  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to de-escalate situations calmly and professionally. 

  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure in fast-paced environments. 

  • Strong observation, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills. 

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team. 

  • High level of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality. 

  • Proficiency with basic computer systems, security software, reporting tools, and mobile devices. 

  • Ability to stand, walk, and patrol indoors and outdoors for extended periods. 

  • Ability to sit, kneel, bend, crouch, and climb stairs as required. 

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds. 

  • Ability to respond quickly to emergencies and physically demanding situations. 

  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions. 

Due to the nature of the hospitality industry, employees are required to work varying schedules, including holidays, to accommodate the business and demands of the hotel
