Brown & Brown is seeking a Senior Account Executive – Business Development to join our growing team! 
 
We are seeking an Account Executive with expertise in the student health insurance sector to drive strategic growth and manage key relationships with higher education institutions. This role is ideal for a results-driven professional who understands the unique needs of colleges, universities, and their student populations. 
  
This position may have access to sensitive information such as PII and/or PHI.  As such, all Academic HealthPlans employees sign and adhere to AHP’s Information Security Handbook covering information security policies and procedures. 
 
How You Will Contribute:   

  • New Sales Strategy & Execution: Develop and execute strategic sales plans to expand market share and meet revenue targets. 

  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with university administrators, student affairs leaders, and benefits managers. 

  • Consultative Selling: Understand client needs and provide tailored insurance solutions that align with institutional goals and student wellness priorities. 

  • Contract Negotiation: Lead contract discussions, renewals, and pricing strategies with clients and internal stakeholders. 

  • Market Intelligence: Stay informed on regulatory changes, competitive landscape, and emerging trends in student health insurance. 

  • Collaboration: Work closely with underwriting, marketing, compliance, and customer service teams to ensure seamless client onboarding and satisfaction. 

  • Reporting & Forecasting: Maintain accurate records of sales activity, pipeline development, and revenue forecasts using sales tools. 

  • Comply with HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity, Compliance Program policies and other applicable corporate and departmental policies. 

  • Maintain complete confidentiality of company business. 

  • Comply with AHP’s Cybersecurity policies and practices, including annual attestation to our Employee Information Security Handbook, full participation in our Information Security Awareness Training, securely managing your accounts in AHP information systems, protecting sensitive information such as electronic Private Health Information (ePHI) should you be required to access it, protecting your AHP-provided laptop, and reporting any Information Security concerns per the instructions in the Employee Information Security Handbook. 

 
Skills & Experience to be Successful: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Healthcare Administration, or related field. 

  • Strong understanding of ACA compliance, waiver processes, and student health plan structures. 

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. 

  • Ability to travel as needed to meet clients and attend industry events. 

  • Experience working with self-funded and fully insured student health plans. (preferred)

  • Familiarity with university procurement processes and RFP responses. (preferred)

  • Existing relationships within the higher education sector. (preferred) 

  • Familiarity with student health portals, waiver systems, and enrollment platforms. (preferred)

Pay Range

$115,000 - $125,000 Annual

The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.
