Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Internal Auditor to support the organization’s Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance program as the role’s primary focus, while also participating in selected operational audits. The Senior Auditor will manage assigned SOX activities from planning through reporting, partner with business and IT process owners, management, and external auditors, and help identify and address control risks and deficiencies.

The ideal candidate has strong experience testing SOX controls and evaluating internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR), along with exposure to operational audits. They can work independently, manage projects and deadlines, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and balance attention to detail with a broader view of risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned activities for the annual SOX compliance program, including process walkthroughs, risk assessments, and testing controls for design and operating effectiveness.
  • Coordinate SOX testing schedules and documentation for assigned processes, following up with control owners to keep work on track.
  • Identify, document, and communicate control deficiencies; assess root causes; track remediation; and validate management’s corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with external auditors for assigned processes by scheduling walkthroughs, supporting testing, providing requested documentation, and communicating status and issues promptly.
  • Maintain audit management and compliance tracking systems, including documentation, testing status, and reporting.
  • Participate in planning and conducting selected operational audits, risk assessments, and advisory engagements, including validating remediation actions.
  • Perform and document audit procedures in accordance with internal audit standards and established methodologies.
  • Evaluate business processes and controls to identify opportunities to mitigate risk and improve operational efficiency.
  • Build effective working relationships with stakeholders across departments and organizational levels.
  • Support special projects and other internal audit initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
  • At least four years of experience in public accounting, SOX compliance, internal audit, risk management, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of ICFR and SOX compliance requirements.
  • Experience participating in operational audits, risk assessments, and process improvement initiatives.

Preferred

  • A professional certification, or active progress toward one, such as CPA, CA, CIA, or CISA.
  • Understanding of the e-commerce or fintech industries and global payment processing.
