Position Summary: The Sr. Business Analyst is a senior contributor on the product management team, providing analytical leadership across multiple product areas and translating complex or ambiguous business needs into clear, actionable requirements that drive product development in a fast-paced environment. This role works closely with the Director of Product Management, engineering leadership, and business stakeholders — setting standards for requirements practice, mentoring less experienced analysts, and contributing to product strategy discussions. This role operates in a Microsoft-based development environment, collaborating closely with engineering teams using Azure DevOps, SQL Server, and modern .NET-based solutions.

Essential Tasks:

Requirements & Analysis

  • Set direction for requirements discovery across multiple product areas or complex, cross-functional initiatives
  • Translate ambiguous or competing business objectives into structured requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria, resolving conflicts among stakeholder groups
  • Identify systemic gaps and inefficiencies across products and workflows, and recommend solutions that inform product strategy
  • Serve as the escalation point for requirements or scope conflicts between business stakeholders and engineering teams
  • Establish and maintain requirements-gathering standards and best practices for the Business Analyst team

Product Support

  • Guide backlog strategy and prioritization across multiple product areas, advising the Director of Product Management on trade-offs
  • Oversee backlog grooming, and release activities across the analyst team, stepping in directly on the most complex or highest-risk releases
  • Establish standards for acceptance criteria and validation practices used across the Business Analyst team
  • Audit work item quality (epics, features, user stories, defects) in Azure DevOps and coach others on maintaining consistency

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with senior business stakeholders and engineering leadership, representing the analyst function in cross-functional and strategic conversations
  • Facilitate complex or high-stakes requirements reviews and sign-off sessions, including those involving competing stakeholder priorities
  • Advise the Director of Product Management on requirements-related risk and provide input into product roadmap decisions

Documentation & Reporting

  • Establish documentation standards (BRDs, process maps, data flow diagrams) used across the Business Analyst team and audit adherence to them
  • Consolidate and report on backlog health and requirement completion trends across multiple product areas for leadership visibility
  • Advise on data and reporting considerations for complex, cross-system requirements

Experience & Education

  • 8+ years of experience in a business analyst or similar role within a technology-focused organization
  • Demonstrated ability to lead requirements discovery and analysis across multiple product areas or complex, cross-functional initiatives
  • Track record of mentoring or developing less experienced analysts
  • Strong ability to translate ambiguous, competing, or undefined business needs into structured, actionable requirements
  • Agile/Scrum experience – including facilitating or advising on ceremonies across multiple teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience engaging senior stakeholders and engineering leadership
  • Proficient in SQL and familiar with database server concepts (tables, relationships, data validation)

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with AI
  • Experience in product analytics, customer journey mapping, or UX research
  • Background in the insurance or financial services industry
  • Experience working in a DevOps environment at scale (boards, backlogs, and reporting across multiple teams)
  • Experience contributing to product roadmap or strategy discussions

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 25 pounds
  • Repeated use of sight to read documents and computer screens
  • Repeated use of hearing and speech to communicate on telephone and in person
  • Repetitive hand movements, such as keyboarding, writing, 10-key
  • Walking, bending, sitting, reaching and stretching in all directions
