Job Overview:

The Senior Digital Strategist is primarily responsible for developing and executing digital strategy for CG Life's Life Sciences clients, including diagnostics companies, CDMOs, and manufacturers of lab equipment. These accounts are often project-based and span a variety of smaller clients, so this role is CG Life's consistent strategic throughline for each client relationship — building the trust and credibility that keep clients returning project after project, even between engagements. This is a role for someone who is energized by a fast-paced, widely variable set of professional challenges: someone who thrives on getting up to speed quickly on a new client, sector, or business problem, and who sees that variety as an opportunity to make a visible difference rather than a hurdle to manage.

The Senior Digital Strategist will partner with the Digital Strategy Director and collaborate closely with brand strategy, content, analytics, and technology teams to ensure engagement plans are grounded in the realities of B2B and technical buying audiences. While not directly responsible for the brand positions and or messaging architecture, this role will help to translate those foundational elements into insight-driven engagement plans that carry through confidently across projects, even when the work with a given client is intermittent. This includes defining audience strategies, channel mix recommendations, experience flows, and performance frameworks that build lasting client confidence in CG Life's strategic value.

Key Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Business Impact

  • Build a deep, working understanding of each client's needs, business, sector (diagnostics, CDMO, life science equipment, etc.), and market quickly enough to be seen as a knowledgeable, trusted strategic partner from the first engagement, and maintain that understanding across gaps between projects
  • Lead discovery and research in early project stages: conduct stakeholder interviews, guide primary and secondary research, review analytics and other materials to distill findings for project teams
  • Define marketing direction for strategy projects across a varied and fast-moving portfolio of clients, including leading brainstorming meetings with the internal team to come up with fresh ideas that can be used to create strong strategic plans for our clients
  • Develop recommendations for project direction in support of the assigned business unit based on research, industry knowledge, digital best practices, collaboration with creative teams, and established client goals
  • Create or contribute to various documents and presentations such as creative briefs, , brand ecosystem maps, digital communication plans, research plans, social media strategies, customer journeys, digital strategy roadmaps, and measurement plans
  • Provide ongoing strategic and tactical advice to clients on a wide range of digital marketing topics, serving as a consistent, trusted point of strategic continuity across projects and continuing to highlight CG Life’s value in the digital marketing space
  • Advise clients and CG Life teams in driving strategic cohesion across all related tactics and projects in service of big-picture business goals, serving as the connective thread for clients even between active engagements
  • Lead project-based digital strategy/planning activities across a portfolio of assigned Life Sciences accounts in partnership with account and other team members, bringing continuity of strategic thinking to each client relationship
  • Maintain a passion for and a strong POV on the evolution of digital marketing. Sharing these perspectives and insights with internal team members and clients
  • Experiment with new tools and techniques to constantly improve our strategic processes and output
  • Develop or contribute to strategic frameworks that improve the quality and efficiency of deliverables
  • Stays current on evolving platforms, modern marketing trends, and implications for client strategies across Life Sciences

Internal Relationships

  • Support cross-functional teams by providing clear strategic direction and inspiration to both clients and internal project teams
  • Collaborate with brand strategy, account management, creative, content, analytics, CXOE, and technology teams to drive cohesive and impactful strategy execution across a fast-moving, varied portfolio of concurrent projects
  • Demonstrates success at working with cross-functional teams and quickly building the kind of confidence-inspiring internal and external relationships that keep clients engaged across projects
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior strategists and cross-functional partners to build strategic capability across teams.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in a client-facing role at a digital marketing agency, or within a digital marketing role on the client/brand side
  • Experience marketing to B2B, scientific, or technical audiences required; life sciences, diagnostics, CDMO, or medical/lab equipment marketing experience strongly preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of brand & product marketing, multi-channel marketing, data-driven digital marketing and related technologies, web analytics, social media, and B2B lead-generation and lifecycle marketing techniques, with the range to apply them across a varied roster of clients and business challenges
  • Relentless problem-solving skills and the ability to assess and resolve complex challenges for varied client needs
  • Willingness and ability to travel (1-2 times per quarter)
  • Ability to create professional-looking documents and presentations coupled with strong presentation and speaking skills
  • Strong analytical abilities and the ability to carefully manage details
  • Ability and desire to collaborate effectively with a wide range of team members, including colleagues and clients with varying professional backgrounds and specialties.
  • Proven ability to quickly build confidence-inspiring client relationships that create a sense of strategic continuity, even across intermittent or project-based engagements
  • Energized by a fast-paced, widely variable set of professional challenges, with the ability to work across multiple projects and client sectors at once in a self-driven environment and get up to speed quickly enough to make a visible difference
  • Ability to focus and work under pressure during tight deadlines with humor, tact, and professionalism
