Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our Manufacturing Finance team. This role owns defined areas of the financial planning, cost analysis, and reporting that connect what happens on the factory floor and in the supply chain to financial outcomes. You will work closely with Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, and Accounting partners to deliver accurate, timely, and insightful analysis.

You will be the go-to person for challenging cost and variance questions, set the standard for quality in your area of work, and help develop more junior analysts. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys digging into the numbers, working side by side with operators and engineers, and taking ownership in a fast-moving, high-growth manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own manufacturing variance analysis. Lead analysis of purchase price, material usage, labor, overhead, and yield variances end to end, identify root causes, and drive follow-up with operations partners.

  • Own cost and margin reporting. Deliver product- and program-level COGS and gross margin analysis, including the financial impact of design, sourcing, and production changes.

  • Support budgeting and forecasting. Build and maintain the manufacturing budget and quarterly forecast, incorporating production plans, headcount, material costs, and other operating drivers.

  • Support overhead and standard costing. Contribute to building overhead pools and overhead rates, and support updates to standard costs and cost roll-ups.

  • Analyze inventory. Analyze inventory balances, valuation, and excess and obsolete exposure, and reconcile inventory activity with Accounting.

  • Partner with Accounting during month-end close. Prepare cost accounting analyses and support schedules, review actuals, and ensure alignment between actuals and forecasts.

  • Build and maintain financial models. Develop and update production, material, labor, and capacity models that support operating forecasts and decision-making.

  • Prepare management reporting. Produce monthly business review materials, budget vs. actuals, and forecast updates with clear commentary on key drivers.

  • Partner with operations leaders. Work with Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams, including director-level partners, to understand performance drivers and turn them into actionable financial insights.

  • Lead ad hoc analysis. Own scenario analysis, ROI assessments, and other analysis supporting equipment, tooling, and capacity decisions.

  • Mentor and set standards. Coach more junior analysts, review their work, and set the standard for quality and best practices in your area.

  • Improve processes and tools. Identify and implement improvements to costing, reporting, and planning processes and tools (e.g., NetSuite, Adaptive, Foundry, or similar), and document how the work is done.

  • Keep work moving. Make day-to-day calls independently, organize priorities, and escalate blockers and complex issues appropriately.

Required Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of experience in manufacturing finance, cost accounting, FP&A, or a related analytical role

  • Hands-on experience with standard costing, including cost roll-ups, variance analysis, and inventory valuation

  • Experience in product manufacturing environments, with a working understanding of production processes, BOMs, routings, and factory cost drivers

  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, with advanced proficiency in Excel

  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting

  • Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate financial insights clearly to operations and leadership stakeholders

  • Ability to own a body of work end to end, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality results

  • Comfort operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with evolving priorities and multiple work streams

  • Experience with ERP and planning systems (e.g., NetSuite, Adaptive, Foundry, or similar)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with overhead pools and overhead rate development

  • Exposure to supply chain or procurement analysis, including material cost and purchase price variance

  • Experience in high-growth, defense, aerospace, shipbuilding, robotics, or deep-tech manufacturing environments

  • Experience mentoring or informally leading junior analysts

  • Experience partnering with accounting teams during month-end close

  • CPA, CMA, CFA, or an advanced degree such as an MBA

  • Ability to interpret accounting data and translate financial results into actionable business insights

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Occasional standing and walking within the office

  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment

  • Visual acuity to read screens, documents, and reports

  • Occasional reaching, bending, or stooping to access file drawers, cabinets, or office supplies

  • Occasional lifting and carrying of items up to 20 pounds (e.g., office supplies, packages)
