What is The Role

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager in the Platform team, which owns Elastic Cloud's backend and Elastic's orchestration products. You will own our offering for the US public sector: the regulated environments that let government agencies run Elastic, including Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) and Department of Defense Impact Level 5 (IL5). This is a fast-growing part of the business, and you will work directly with some of the largest agencies in the country.

The successful applicant will be performing work in FedRAMP Moderate or FedRAMP High environments, and therefore, must be a U.S. Person (i.e. U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee). This position may also perform work that the U.S. government has specified can only be performed by a U.S. citizen on U.S. soil.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Define the vision and roadmap for Elastic's public sector offering, from FedRAMP Moderate and High through IL5 and the environments that come after it.
  • Provide support for customers, with a focus on those in our FedRAMP environment
  • Translate compliance requirements into product requirements, and collaborate with your Engineering counterparts to prioritize them.
  • Work with Security, Compliance, and Legal to keep authorizations current as the product changes.
  • Collaborate with the Sales & Marketing teams on go-to-market, messaging, competitive analysis and enablement, including federal partners and resellers.
  • Gather requirements from agency customers, and combine that feedback with market data and usage information to develop product insights.
  • Track regulatory change and turn it into a plan the team can act on.
  • You work autonomously and can drive decisions and results in a distributed team by leveraging asynchronous, direct, and transparent communication.
  • You have a proven track record of using AI to accelerate your work, while still owning the final outcomes.
What You Bring 
  • 5+ years of Product Management experience with deep technical products.
  • Prior experience building and operating Department of Defense (DoD) Impact Level 4 or above cloud service environments, and/or Is eligible to work in Department of Defense (DoD) Impact Level 4 or above cloud service environments, direct experience with US federal compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS), or StateRAMP.
  • Understanding of cloud technologies and developer-focused products
  • Experience building for government agencies, system integrators, or federal resellers.
  • You have a proven track record of using AI to accelerate your work, while still owning the final outcomes.
  • You possess the ability to collaborate across functions and teams and seamlessly transition between different projects based on business priorities.
  • You can work autonomously, drive decisions and results in a distributed team by leveraging asynchronous, direct, and transparent communication.

Bonus Points
  • Direct experience with the Elastic Stack, or experience with one or more of the common use-cases for the Elastic Stack, such as application search, logging, metrics, APM, business analytics, security analytics, GIS, etc.
  • Familiarity with government cloud regions (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, Google Distributed Cloud) and with air-gapped deployments.
  • Knowledge of public sector procurement and the Authority to Operate (ATO) process.
  • Comfortable using AI tools as part of your day-to-day work.
  • Comfort working in a very cross-functional role, with a highly distributed, global team.
  • Open source software and/or commercial open source companies.


Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary.  This role does not have a variable compensation component.  

The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below.  In select locations (including Seattle WA, Los Angeles CA, the San Francisco Bay Area CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below. 

These ranges represent the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the ranges may be modified in the future.  

An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Elastic believes that employees should have the opportunity to share in the value that we create together for our shareholders. Therefore, in addition to cash compensation, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic's stock program.  Our total rewards package also includes a company-matched 401k with dollar-for-dollar matching up to 6% of eligible earnings, along with a range of other benefits offered with a holistic emphasis on employee well-being.

$159,900$252,900 USD
