Position Summary

  • Synergy is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer candidate for a growing government client. As a Quality Assurance Engineer you will be performing for functional testing and Integration Tests via a server-based application User Interface.   The right candidate will have a working knowledge of software engineering concepts such as software development standards, quality assurance standards, and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).   As a Quality Assurance Engineer you will be able to interpret requirements, develop test plans and test cases, and test software functionality.  The role would ensure quality in the product development and participate in client engagements, along with improving product quality assurance practices and supporting business development activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Expert Software Quality Assurance Analyst. 
  • Provides technical leadership to junior QA analysts. 
  • Expert with testing tools and methodologies. 
  • Meeting with the software/product designers to determine quality assurance parameters.
  • Defines test plan development guidelines, testing strategies and procedures. 
  • Exercises extensive professional experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Reports to a program or project manager. 
  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in a technical field and over 7 years experience in the field.
  • Ensuring the successful deployment of products into production with minimal deficiencies.
  • Responding to requests from the design team and management.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in black box manual testing of web applications with UIs.
  • Proven experience with functional, system, regression, and integration testing.
  • Proven experience developing test cases from user stories.
  • Ability to execute and read complex SQL queries.
  • Ability to analyze a product for accurate Integration test scenarios.
  • High-level analytical skills and a high level of attention to detail.
  • Critical thinker.
  • Proven experience with test management tools. 
  • Experience with a variety of SDLC and Agile methodologies required.
  • Experience in white box testing of RESTful APIs, SOAP APIs, and/or web services.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task under tight deadlines and report status.
  • Ability to document QA procedures for the team.
  • Ability to validate the deployment of software releases.
  • Proven experience in test planning (including data planning), test scheduling, and test evaluation.
  • Management of defects within a corporate defect tracking system.
  • Ability to obtain Security + Certification, if necessary.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams including New Development and Production Support for field level incidents.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Linux, JBoss, Docker/OpenShift and Appian.
  • Coordination and prioritization of test development activities and the ability to work with multiple teams are also critical for the selected candidate. Candidate must have the ability to troubleshoot independently both software and operating system level installation and configuration issues.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or Computer Engineering degree; or an Engineering degree from an accredited* institution.In accordance with DOD Cyber Workforce Qualifications Matrices Management, Security+ is required for candidates that do not possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or Computer Engineering degree; or a degree in Engineering from an accredited* institution. The U.S. Department of Education Database of Accredited Postsecondary Institutions and Programs located at https://amspub.abet.org/aps/name-search?searchType=institution identifies accredited postsecondary institutions and programs that are within the U.S. and its territories. Certification must be obtained within six (6) months of hire.

Citizenship & Clearance Requirements:

  • Ability to attain Federal Government Position of Trust.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must pass a background investigation

Target Salary Range

Compensation for roles at Synergy is determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the requirements of the role; level of experience; education and certifications; the individual’s combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities; as well as alignment with market data, federal and state laws, and other business and contract considerations. The estimated pay range for this position is:  $68,412.00–$97,732.00. The disclosed range has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case and represent just one component of Synergy’s total compensation package for employees.
