Position Summary

The Senior Sales Manager is responsible for generating profitable group room and banquet revenue for OKANA Resort & Indoor Waterpark. This position manages an assigned market segment and territory, develops new business, grows existing accounts, and guides opportunities from prospecting through contract execution and turnover. As a senior member of the sales team, this role also serves as a leader, mentor, and strategic partner who models accountability, urgency, collaboration, and exceptional client service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed assigned quarterly and annual goals for group room revenue, room nights, banquet food and beverage, rental, and total account production.
  • Develop and execute a proactive sales plan for the assigned segment, territory, and need periods, with emphasis on new-account acquisition, multi-year opportunities, and repeat business.
  • Prospect consistently through research, outbound calls, email, networking, industry events, client appointments, sales missions, site visits, and third-party sourcing platforms.
  • Respond to leads and RFPs with speed, accuracy, creativity, and a strong understanding of the client's objectives, budget, decision criteria, and competitive alternatives.
  • Prepare proposals, presentations, concessions, and contracts that position the full OKANA experience while protecting rate, profitability, and operational feasibility.
  • Conduct site tours that showcase guest rooms, meeting venues, outdoor spaces, dining outlets, waterpark, lagoon, recreation, and resort amenities.
  • Negotiate rates, dates, space, food and beverage minimums, concessions, and contract terms within established authority; secure leadership approval when required.
  • Maintain an accurate pipeline and document all account activity, traces, correspondence, decision dates, and next steps in the approved sales system.
  • Provide reliable weekly and monthly forecasts, production updates, lost-business intelligence, market feedback, and action plans.
  • Manage account relationships through regular business reviews, personalized outreach, post-event follow-up, and strategic rebooking efforts.
  • Partner with Revenue Management and resort leadership to evaluate opportunities based on total account value, compression, displacement, pattern, seasonality, and ancillary spend.
  • Complete organized and timely turnover to Conference Services and remain engaged as appropriate to support successful execution and future business.
  • Collaborate with Catering, Conference Services, Reservations, Revenue Management, Marketing, Operations, and Finance to deliver a seamless client experience.
  • Represent OKANA professionally at trade shows, networking events, industry functions, familiarization tours, community events, and client entertainment activities.
  • Support team prospecting initiatives, sales blitzes, strategic projects, training, and cross-segment coverage as assigned.
  • Mentor sales colleagues, share best practices, contribute to strategy discussions, and reinforce a one-team culture.
  • Follow all resort policies, brand standards, contracting procedures, response-time expectations, and revenue-management guidelines.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality, business, marketing, communications, or a related field or 5+ years in a full-service hotel or resort.
  • Minimum three to five years of hotel, resort, destination, venue, or hospitality sales experience; upscale, full-service, or group-focused experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success meeting sales goals and managing complex group opportunities from qualification through contract.
  • Strong knowledge of group sales strategy, hotel operations, meeting and event requirements, contract terms, and total-revenue evaluation.
  • Excellent presentation, negotiation, relationship-building, written communication, and closing skills.
  • Proficiency with hotel sales and catering systems, CRM platforms, Microsoft Office, and electronic RFP tools; experience with Cvent and Knowland preferred.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, solve problems independently, and maintain careful attention to detail.
  • Established relationships within the assigned market segment or region are a plus.

This position operates in a fast-paced resort environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
