Solutions Configuration Analyst

Location: Austin TX.

Type: Fixed Term Employee (6 months with possible extension, including Benefits).

Job Summary

Designs, configures, and validates enterprise product solutions and the SKU-level BOMs behind them for end customers. The role starts with understanding the client’s environment (their procurement systems, product catalogs, CPQ/ERP stack, and technical standards) so configurations are compatible, compliant, and orderable the first time.

Responsibilities

Pre-build client and environment discovery

  • Review the client’s existing infrastructure, standards, approved vendor lists, and deployment requirements before configuring
  • Understand the client’s systems landscape: CPQ, ERP, procurement portals (e.g., Ariba, Coupa), catalog and pricing structures, and contract/agreement terms
  • Capture technical requirements: performance, capacity, compatibility, security, regional and compliance constraints
  • Produce a client profile and configuration requirements document before build begins

Solution configuration and BOM build

  • Translate requirements into validated configurations: base systems, options, components, software/licensing, support and services SKUs
  • Build multi-level BOMs and bundles with correct attach rules, dependencies, and exclusions
  • Validate compatibility, firmware and software interoperability, and lifecycle status (EOL/EOS)
  • Align configurations to contract pricing, customer-specific SKUs, and regional availability

Systems and process

  • Configure and maintain solutions in CPQ and ERP tools; load and reconcile BOM data in client-specific formats
  • Maintain configuration rules, templates, and reusable reference builds
  • Manage change requests, revisions, and substitutions through the order lifecycle

Quality and collaboration

  • Run pre-quote validation to catch invalid, incomplete, or non-orderable configurations
  • Work with sales, solution architects, supply chain, and vendor/OEM teams to resolve exceptions
  • Document decisions and maintain audit trails

Eligibility Requirements

  • 3-6 years in solutions configuration, sales engineering support, technical pre-sales, or product/config data for enterprise products
  • Working knowledge of enterprise IT product families (compute, storage, networking, software licensing) or equivalent enterprise product domain
  • Hands-on experience with CPQ and/or ERP systems (Salesforce CPQ, SAP, Oracle, vendor configurators such as OEM quoting tools)
  • Strong grasp of BOM structures, SKU hierarchies, and bundling/attach logic
  • Proven ability to learn client systems and environments quickly and document them clearly
  • Advanced Excel; comfort with bulk-load and integration formats
Preferred Qualification
  • SQL or scripting for validation and automation
  • Experience supporting enterprise accounts with contract-specific catalogs
  • Consulting or managed-services delivery background
Core Competencies
  • Technical depth with client-facing communication
  • Systems thinking and compatibility validation
  • Precision and process discipline
  • Ownership of configuration accuracy through to order
