Location: Austin TX

Type: Fixed Term Employee (6 months with possible extension, including Benefits).

Job Summary

Leads a team of two while remaining a hands-on contributor, configuring and building SKU-level BOMs and solutions for enterprise-class customers and products. The role owns the quality and throughput of the team’s output, sets the standard for client environment discovery, and personally handles the most complex or high-stakes configurations.

Responsibilities

Hands-on configuration and BOM build

  • Configure and validate enterprise solutions (base systems, options, software/licensing, support and services) and build multi-level BOMs with correct attach rules, dependencies, and exclusions
  • Take ownership of complex, strategic, or escalated configurations
  • Validate compatibility, lifecycle status (EOL/EOS), regional availability, and alignment to contract pricing and customer-specific SKUs
  • Configure and maintain solutions in CPQ and ERP tools

Pre-build client and environment discovery

  • Lead discovery for new and strategic clients: their systems landscape (CPQ, ERP, procurement portals, catalogs), technical standards, approved vendor lists, and compliance constraints
  • Produce and maintain client profiles and configuration requirements documents, and ensure the team works from them
  • Serve as the technical point of contact for client stakeholders during onboarding

Team leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop two engineers: set priorities, assign work by complexity and skill
  • Review team output before delivery; provide fast, constructive feedback and teach through review
  • Manage workload and capacity, and flag staffing or timeline risk early
  • Onboard new team members and cross-train to reduce single points of failure

Process and quality

  • Own configuration standards, templates, reusable reference builds, and QA checklists
  • Track and report team metrics: first-pass validity, turnaround, error and rejection rates
  • Drive root-cause analysis on errors and implement preventive fixes
  • Identify automation and process improvement opportunities

Stakeholder collaboration

  • Work with sales, solution architects, supply chain, and vendor/OEM teams to resolve exceptions
  • Provide clear status updates and escalations to management and clients

Eligibility Requirements

  • 5-8 years in solutions configuration, technical pre-sales support, or product/config data for enterprise products
  • 1+ years leading, mentoring, or acting as a team lead
  • Working knowledge of enterprise IT product families (compute, storage, networking, software licensing) or equivalent enterprise product domain
  • Strong understanding of BOM structures, SKU hierarchies, and bundling/attach logic
  • Proven ability to learn client systems quickly and document them clearly
  • Advanced Excel; comfort with bulk-load and integration formats
Preferred Qualification
  • Technical certifications relevant to the product domain
  • Experience with enterprise with contract-specific catalogs
  • Consulting or managed-services delivery background
Core Competencies
  • Player-coach mindset: delivers personally while raising the team’s capability
  • Technical depth with client-facing communication
  • Quality ownership and process discipline
  • Prioritization and workload management
  • Coaching and constructive feedback
