The Engineering Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers' missions. What You'll Do:
  • Space Vehicle, Bus or subsystem cost account manager and project engineer. This position is 70% management and 30% technical.
  • Lead a cross-functional team to meet cost, schedule, and technical requirements through entire project lifecycle (concept through hardware delivery) of one or more of the following subsystems: Mechanical, Thermal, ADCS, EPDS, CDH, Telecomm, FSW, Structures, Mechanisms, Simulators, Fault Management, Propulsion.
  • Develop baseline cost estimates, actively manage cost performance, provide updates to cost estimates, explain variances, and manage team to meet cost commitments.
  • Develop baseline schedules, actively manage schedule performance, provide updates to schedule forecasts, and manage team to meet schedule milestones. Manage teams to meet technical requirements by guiding technical discussions, promoting technical collaboration, and making risk-based decisions.
  • Manage risk and opportunities by proactively identifying, communicating, and mitigating throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work daily with the larger mission, payload and the subsystem teams. Helping with team procurements and programmatic issues, logistics and communication.
  • Establish excellent supplier relationships
  • Establish excellent customer and program leadership relationships
  • Extensive technical writing (proposal development, contractual elements, procedural definitions, specifications, interfaces, analysis support and description documents).
  • Prepare and give presentations to peers, management and customers.
  • Inspires collective success through expert influence and collaborative leadership.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 8 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • A current, active Top Secret/SCI security clearance is required.
  • A solid understanding of all aspects of planning, scheduling, hardware specifications, and interface control.
  • Proven expertise in subcontract management.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to build trust and foster collaboration.
  • Proven track record of leading high-performing teams to achieve strategic goals
  • Possess the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills with a focus on results.
  • Demonstrated adaptability and resilience in driving change and innovation.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Minimum of 3 years direct experience in spacecraft related Design or Test is preferred.
  • Previous earned value management experience is highly desired.
  • Working knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) - CAM experience.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $132962 - $226035
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
