Role Overview

The Director, Product Analytics & Telemetry will define what "healthy" means for every product in Circana's portfolio. This role sets the standards and directs the build work for the shared telemetry and dashboard layer the rest of the organization relies on, giving every team a continuous, quantitative read on how products are performing and being used without needing to request a report. Director, Product Analytics & Telemetry partners with leaders from each product vertical to align product-specific instrumentation to shared, standardized definitions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Define standardized usage and health metrics across every product vertical in the portfolio.
  • Instrument products across the portfolio for usage and health telemetry from day one.
  • Set priorities for self-serve dashboards product teams use directly, without requesting ad hoc analysis.
  • Ensure delivery-health and risk signal surfaces automatically into roadmap planning and governance.
  • Partner with each product vertical to align product-specific instrumentation to shared, standardized definitions.
  • Continuously refine what "healthy" means as products and the portfolio evolve.
  • Advocate for consistent, standardized metric definitions across product lines with different data shapes.
  • Represent product health standards and telemetry findings to product and technology stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in product analytics, data/BI, or a technical product management role, with strong quantitative fluency.
  • Experience defining metrics and specifications precise enough for an engineer to build against.
  • Experience directing a dotted-line, embedded, or cross-functional engineering resource.
  • Comfortable standardizing definitions across product lines with different data shapes, including 2+ years directly managing or directing technical talent.
  • Cross-vertical thinking, with a strong track record of standardizing metric definitions across multiple product lines or teams.
  • Ability to influence senior product, technology, and business stakeholders.
  • Direct experience with instrumentation or telemetry systems, and background working in a horizontal/platform team supporting multiple verticals, both preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, computer science, engineering, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent experience.

Circana Behaviors

Beyond technical skills, experience, and role-specific attributes, these shared behaviors are fundamental to our culture and success. We seek individuals who consistently demonstrate and champion these behaviors in their daily work:

  • Stay Curious: Being hungry to learn and grow, always asking the big questions.
  • Seek Clarity: Embracing complexity to create clarity and inspire action.
  • Own the Outcome: Being accountable for decisions and taking ownership of our choices.
  • Center on the Client: Relentlessly adding value for our customers.
  • Be a Challenger: Never complacent, always striving for continuous improvement.
  • Champion Inclusivity: Fostering trust in relationships engaging with empathy, respect, and integrity.
  • Commit to each other: Contributing to making Circana a great place to work for everyone.
