Job Description

Senior Product Manager

Cox Automotive is seeking a Senior Product Manager to join our Enterprise Inventory Services Group. This role owns the full lifecycle of inventory data capabilities from concept through launch and adoption. You will be accountable for inventory data flows across Cox products, ensuring vehicle information moves accurately and efficiently between retail channels to enable a seamless omnichannel car-buying experience.

Success requires collaboration with Product, UX, Engineering, Architecture, and Solution Delivery teams. You'll drive alignment across stakeholders, maintain clear communication within the Agile Release Train, and influence decisions at all levels to deliver exceptional internal and external customer experiences.

The ideal candidate is self-organized and self-directed, operates with urgency, has a bias for action, and commits to continuous learning. You leverage quantitative and qualitative research to guide decisions, integrate business priorities with technical constraints, and deliver iterative value. Humility, curiosity, and strong influencing skills are essential.

Areas of Focus

  • Product Discovery: Lead discovery to understand inventory data problems across the enterprise, including dealer segments and personas. Collaborate with business partners to align product strategy with business objectives. Partner with engineering, architecture, and clients to inform discovery. Balance long-term enterprise platform needs with short-term incremental value.
  • Operational Execution: Translate strategic roadmap priorities into executable work using agile planning tools. Balance new feature development with technical debt reduction. Collaborate with Product Management and UX colleagues to ensure portfolio alignment.
  • Agile Development: Apply agile methodologies in a complex, multi-solution enterprise environment. Build relationships across product, UX, engineering, architecture, and solution delivery teams. Ensure teams understand product vision and maintain a healthy pipeline of meaningful work that incrementally delivers value.
  • Adoption Planning: Apply customer mindset to internal capabilities. Collaborate with product readiness, engineering teams, business stakeholders, implementation partners, and customer support to build go-to-market rollout and migration plans. Develop change management strategies, training approaches, and success criteria. Define what complete adoption looks like and track progress.
  • Stakeholder Management: Navigate conflicting priorities across business units. Build consensus when groups have opposing needs. Manage up, down, and across in a matrix organization. Balance enterprise platform goals with individual product team needs.
  • Client Engagement: Engage with internal and external clients throughout discovery to gather feedback on product ideas. Understand dealer operations, wholesale vs retail inventory differences, and OEM requirements.
  • Product Success: Define and monitor KPIs including data accuracy rates, sync latency between systems, inventory discrepancy resolution time, performance metrics, and adoption completion. Communicate insights and use results to inform roadmap priorities and continuous improvement.

What We Look For

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 2 years’ experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 16 years’ experience in a related field
  • 4+ years of experience in software product management or product marketing
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and system architecture diagrams
  • Critical thinking skills to solve challenging problems for complex enterprise products; not afraid to ask hard questions to achieve the best outcome
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; can precisely articulate customer problems and solution value and effectively influence cross-functional teams
  • Commercial mindset to inform product development and launch activities; can optimize shipping a portfolio of small/medium releases to large product launches
  • Understanding of agile methodologies and how to drive complex initiatives forward in a multi-team environment
  • Purpose-driven with the ability to motivate and excite others; constantly strive for continuous improvement
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop relationships with team members and customers
