About the Role:

The Senior Technical Instructional Designer designs advanced, scalable learning experiences for technical audiences, including Sales Engineers, Solutions Architects, Partners, Alliances, and other customer-facing technical teams.

This role sits within Revenue Enablement and partners closely with the Director of Content Development and leaders across Technical and Partner Enablement. Together, they translate complex technical strategy, product capabilities, and field priorities into practical learning programs that improve technical fluency and field performance.

This is a senior individual contributor role at the intersection of technical expertise, learning architecture, and applied enablement. The ideal candidate brings significant technical depth and can operate credibly with technical SMEs, enablement leaders, and field teams. Experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Solutions Architect, software engineer, technical trainer, or other hands-on technical practitioner is strongly preferred.

You will partner with technical content developers, trainers, lab developers, and SMEs to create curricula, role-based learning paths, hands-on labs, simulations, workshops, certifications, and other blended learning experiences.

This is a remote role open to qualified candidates near any major metro in the USA.

What You'll Do:
  • Partner with enablement leaders to shape technical learning strategies, curriculum roadmaps, and role-based learning paths

  • Translate complex technical and business priorities into clear performance outcomes, learning objectives, and learner experiences

  • Design applied technical learning, including labs, simulations, troubleshooting exercises, workshops, technical scenarios, and assessments

  • Focus learning on what technical audiences need to do, not simply what they need to know

  • Lead discovery with technical SMEs to understand workflows, use cases, field challenges, and performance requirements

  • Simplify complex technical concepts without sacrificing accuracy

  • Collaborate with technical content developers, trainers, and lab developers to bring learning experiences to life

  • Establish reusable standards and frameworks for technical learning, including objectives, hands-on practice, assessment, and curriculum design

  • Create performance-based assessments that measure technical capability and field readiness

  • Identify gaps and opportunities across the technical enablement curriculum

  • Use learner feedback, assessment results, and field insights to improve programs

  • Explore innovative approaches such as AI-assisted learning, interactive labs, simulations, gamification, and AI-powered role play

  • Coach and guide course writers, content developers, trainers, and other contributors on instructional design best practices

What You'll Need:
  • Significant experience in or closely supporting technical roles such as Sales Engineering, Solutions Architecture, software engineering, technical consulting, technical training, or technical enablement

  • Strong technical acumen and the ability to understand complex technologies, architectures, integrations, workflows, and use cases preferably in technologies related to cyber security

  • Advanced instructional design experience, including performance-based learning, curriculum architecture, assessment strategy, scenario-based learning, and competency development

  • Experience designing hands-on or applied technical learning, such as labs, simulations, workshops, troubleshooting exercises, technical scenarios, or certification programs

  • Ability to lead discovery with technical SMEs, ask sophisticated questions, challenge assumptions, and determine what learners need to know, practice, and demonstrate

  • Ability to independently turn ambiguous business or technical needs into effective learning solutions

  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, facilitation, and influencing skills

  • Experience designing across multiple formats, including eLearning, instructor-led training, virtual training, labs, simulations, and blended learning

  • Experience building scalable curricula, learning paths, competency models, proficiency frameworks, or certification programs

  • Comfort working in a fast-changing environment with evolving technical and business priorities

Bonus Points
  • Prior experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Solutions Architect, software engineer, technical trainer, or technical pre-sales professional with complex technologies

  • Background in cybersecurity, SaaS, cloud, AI, data, DevOps, or enterprise technology

  • Experience designing enablement for Sales Engineers, Solutions Architects, Partners, Alliances, or other customer-facing technical teams

  • Experience with technical academies, certification programs, hands-on lab environments, simulations, or gamified learning

  • Familiarity with tools such as Highspot, Docebo, Rise, Articulate, Synthesia, or similar platforms

  • Experience mentoring instructional designers, course writers, technical trainers, or content developers

  • Experience using AI-assisted tools for learning design, content development, assessment creation, technical research, or simulation design
