Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.
About the RoleWe're looking for a versatile software engineer to build and scale the internal tools and data infrastructure powering Base's supply chain operations. You'll own the platforms that make our supply chain intelligent, automated, and resilient - spanning supplier management, domestic content compliance, and production readiness systems.
Embedded within our supply chain team, you'll work directly with planners, procurement, and operations leadership to understand their workflows, eliminate bottlenecks, and ship software that helps Base move faster. What you build will directly determine whether we can manufacture batteries at scale, qualify for critical tax credits, and deliver reliable energy to homes across the country.
What You’ll Do
Contribute to our internally built TMS, WMS, and MRP — wiring up data pipelines, integrations, and the models behind them.
Build and own a supply chain control tower - multi-tier supplier visibility, clear-to-build detection, and real-time dashboards tracking production readiness and blocked orders.
Build procurement tooling for supplier performance tracking, RFQ/RFP automation, bid analysis, and contract management.
Develop tax credit compliance systems for 48E domestic content and 45X FEOC verification, integrating EIN lookups, D&B ownership data, and regulatory watch lists.
Own data pipelines pulling from ERP, supplier portals, and customs and shipping systems, with automated alerts for disruptions, quality issues, and compliance risks.
Calculate and surface financial exposure for WIP inventory, blocked production, and tax credit risk.
Work directly with planners, buyers, and ops managers to scope MVPs, deploy weekly, and iterate on real feedback.
Identify manual workflows across the supply chain team and build the tools that replace them.
What You’ll Bring
2+ years building production software — web apps, internal tools, or data platforms — ideally in supply chain, manufacturing, logistics, or ops tech
Solid experience with data pipelines, API integrations, and working with messy, real-world data
Comfort with AWS or GCP, modern deployment practices, and observability tooling
Preferred skills:
Experience with ERP/WMS/MES systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Odoo), or time spent building ops platforms at a high-growth startup
AI/ML experience in forecasting, anomaly detection, or decision support; fluency using Claude or other AI coding assistants to ship faster
Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.
Our ValuesFirst Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.
Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.
Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.
Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.
Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.
Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.
Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.
