About this opportunity:
The Tactical Distribution Manager is responsible for managing tactical transportation and distribution operations across the end-to-end supply chain. This role ensures operational excellence by driving logistics service provider (LSP) performance, managing critical transportation issues, optimizing distribution costs, ensuring compliance, and supporting strategic logistics initiatives.
What you will do:
- Act as first escalation point for transportation issues and ad-hoc / urgent transport requests.
- Coordinate with LSPs, EPC, CLM and other stakeholders to resolve incidents and ensure timely deliveries.
- Own transportation operational standards and KPIs, including service levels, freight rates and process compliance.
- Monitor transport performance vs. SLAs and drive continuous improvement in OTD, damage control and process adherence.
- Lead Monthly Business Reviews and regular performance meetings with logistics providers; prepare KPI and performance reports.
- Support transportation tenders (requirements, lane files, volume and lane analysis, supplier evaluation) and onboarding of new carriers.
- Manage end-to-end transportation solutions (FTL/FCL, LTL/LCL, express, courier, air and ocean) and support freight cost analysis and budgeting.
- Maintain transportation master data in SAP/TMS; develop, update and train on logistics SOPs.
- Ensure import/export and trade compliance, including coordination of Customs clearance and related reporting.
- Act as logistics advisor to CLM, EPC, CU Supply and other stakeholders; recommend tactical distribution solutions balancing service and cost.
- Manage freight damage and accident claims from initiation to closure and implement preventive actions.
The skills you bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Trade, Transportation/Freight Operations, Business Administration or related field.
- 5+ years in transportation, distribution, logistics or supply chain operations.
- Proven experience managing 3PL/LSP providers and transportation tenders.
- Experience with Customs, import/export and trade compliance preferred.
- Strong knowledge of transportation and distribution planning and network setup (including FCL/LCL and cross-border).
- Hands-on experience with SAP and Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
- Strong analytical and reporting skills; good understanding of logistics KPIs and performance management.
- Moderate knowledge of AI/ML and ability to use AI tools to improve logistics processes and support tactical decisions.
- Strong problem-solving, stakeholder management, communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
