As a Tax Director within BPM’s Corporate Tax practice, you will serve as a trusted advisor to complex C-Corporation clients, helping them navigate evolving tax regulations, mitigate risk, and identify opportunities that support their business objectives. You will provide strategic leadership on sophisticated federal and multistate tax matters, oversee high-quality client service delivery, and guide clients through complex tax planning, compliance, ASC 740, accounting methods, and transaction-related initiatives. By mentoring and developing high-performing teams, strengthening client relationships, and driving business development efforts, you will play a key role in expanding the practice while delivering meaningful value to clients and contributing to BPM’s continued growth and success

Note: Candidates residing within commutable distance from one of BPM’s offices, will be expected to work a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities:

    • Serve as a trusted advisor to middle-market and emerging growth companies, providing strategic tax guidance to complex C-Corporations and consolidated groups.
    • Lead and review federal, state, and local corporate income tax compliance engagements, including multistate filings and corporate tax returns.
    • Research, analyze, and interpret complex tax issues, delivering clear and actionable recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.
    • Provide technical expertise on corporate tax matters, including ASC 740 income tax provisions, accounting method changes, net operating losses (NOLs), tax credits, incentives, and other complex tax planning areas.
    • Advise clients on the tax implications of mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, entity planning, and other strategic business transactions.
    • Manage, mentor, and develop Managers, Supervisors, and staff, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and professional growth.
    • Review tax work products to ensure quality, accuracy, compliance, and adherence to firm standards.
    • Partner with firm leadership to identify and pursue business development opportunities that strengthen client relationships and expand service offerings.
    • Contribute to thought leadership initiatives, internal training programs, and the development of best practices that enhance the Corporate Tax practice.
    • Stay current on tax legislation, regulatory developments, and industry trends to provide forward-thinking guidance to clients and teams.

Requirements:

    • Active CPA license, JD or EA 
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
    • 10+ years of progressive corporate tax experience
    • Strong technical knowledge of federal and multistate corporate income tax
    • Proven experience managing client relationships and leading engagements
    • Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence, coach, and collaborate
    • Experience reviewing ASC 740 provisions (preferred)
      • Public accounting experience with middle‑market or complex corporate clients (preferred)
        • Experience supporting M&A transactions and tax structuring (preferred)
