POSITION SUMMARY

The Sr. Technical Sales Engineer, Channel Whitespace, Texas is responsible for assisting the sales team to drive revenue by qualifying opportunities involving critical infrastructure and Vertiv physical whitespace solutions. Candidates with their existing primary residence and technical sales experience in Texas are highly preferred. This individual acts as the primary technical subject matter expert for facilities-level infrastructure, including power distribution, thermal management, and remote management technologies. This role will sit remotely but will require some travel in the state of Texas. The role requires the ability to provide deep technical validation of Vertiv solutions, specifically pertaining to power, cooling, UPS and rPDU, KVM, and advanced monitoring software to ensure seamless customer operations and high availability.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide expert-level consultation on critical infrastructure design, ensuring power and cooling systems are optimized for high-density compute environments.
  • Demonstrate a mastery of KVM and serial console technologies to provide customers with secure, remote access and out-of-band management solutions.
  • Support the deployment and configuration of monitoring software (SNMP, Modbus, BACnet) to provide real-time visibility into facility health.
  • Advocate for and implement predictive maintenance strategies, utilizing data and monitoring tools to anticipate equipment needs before failures occur.
  • Develop and deliver technical presentations that highlight the integration of power, cooling, and management layers within a unified facility ecosystem.
  • Perform site walks and technical audits to identify gaps in a customer's current facilities infrastructure.
  • Tailor RFP responses to highlight Vertiv’s superior technical capabilities in infrastructure reliability and predictive analytics.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 4–8 years of experience specifically within the critical infrastructure or data center facilities industry.
  • Mastery of power chain fundamentals, including Ohm’s law, three-phase power calculation, and power distribution (rPDU and UPS).
  • Strong technical background in thermal management, including data center cooling architectures and containment strategies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Infrastructure Expert: Deep understanding of both core and edge data center designs, focusing on the intersection of power and cooling.
  • Software Proficient: Advanced knowledge of monitoring software and DCIM tools used to track environmental and power metrics.
  • Predictive Mindset: Familiarity with predictive maintenance sensors and analytics that drive proactive service models.
  • KVM Specialist: Comprehensive understanding of IP-based KVM and management port use on servers and network equipment.
  • Connectivity Knowledge: Understanding of networking protocols (SNMP, Modbus) as they relate to hardware communication and facility monitoring.
  • Ability to translate complex facility requirements into clear, actionable technical solutions for non-technical stakeholders.

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to navigate industrial facility environments and data centers safely.

TIME TRAVEL REQUIRED

  • Up to 50% travel to partner sites and customer facilities.

​​The Account Manager II, AC Power, is responsible for developing and expanding the overall relationship with assigned Electrical Contractors, Consultants, and End Users for AC Power and Switchgear product opportunities. The Account Manager works closely with Thermal, Channel, and Service Sales Reps within the territory to further develop Vertiv’s overall relationship with these accounts. Through regular customer visits the Account Manager establishes and strengthens key relationships with current and potential clients and develops/delivers presentation materials to illustrate their pains and propose meaningful solutions. The Sr. Account Manager organizes internal resources appropriate for each customer opportunity and delivers solutions which exceed customer expectations. 

This position will contribute to the overall sales for the Ashburn, VA Factory Direct Office (FDO). This role will specialize in AC Power and Switchgear accounts covering local contractors, engineers, and owners that utilize critical equipment in Data Center applications. The Sr. Account Manager works independently, is creative, and a critical thinker. The Sr. Account Manager is required to meet customer demands for innovative solutions to their data center service needs by analyzing documentation and sales reports that offer the most competitive plan to meet the customer’s needs while meeting and exceeding sales quotas and business objectives. The Sr. Account Manager requires travel across the territory to build relationships and visit sites to propose solutions.

The anticipated salary range for this role in the California locality is between $91,766 to $114,660 per year – salary ranges for other geographic localities may vary. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus, and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance and are role based. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to receive and/or participate in profit sharing, allowances, travel and/or car expenses, and earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization depending on the terms of the employee’s role and individual offer details. This role is eligible for a monthly Sales Incentive plan on a 80/20 split. The role is eligible to participate in a comprehensive and competitive benefits program, including medical, dental, vision, disability, PTO, holiday pay, and 401k.
