About this opportunity:
Ericsson's Strategic Security Office (SSO) within MACS is seeking a motivated Cybersecurity Intern for a full-time, approximately 12-week summer internship supporting our business across The Americas.
You will gain practical experience in security governance, frameworks and controls, product and telecom security, supply-chain risk, incident readiness, regulatory compliance, and customer assurance.
Working with experienced professionals, you will contribute to initiatives that strengthen customer trust and support the delivery of secure products, solutions, and services. You will learn how security strategies, policies, risks, and customer requirements are coordinated across product, sales, delivery, and support organizations.
The role provides exposure to 5G, RAN and Open RAN, cloud-native networks, network slicing, Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA), AI security, AI/ML, and software-driven services.

What you will do:

• Use approved AI and automation tools to assist with security planning, reporting, meeting support, action and risk tracking, documentation, and compliance and impact assessments - organizing evidence and reviewing requirements while validating outputs and protecting sensitive information.
• Organize security priorities, decisions, metrics, recommendations, and progress updates for stakeholders.
• Research and summarize cybersecurity regulations, standards, government guidance, emerging threats, industry developments, and customer requirements with guidance from the team.
• Help map security requirements and controls to internal frameworks, policies, and processes; identify gaps and track corrective actions.
• Assist in preparing customer security responses, assessments, audits, plans, and assurance materials.
• Analyze and visualize security information for risk discussions, management reporting, and roadmap decisions.
• Maintain approved security reference materials and reusable responses.
• Complete a small improvement project and present the results.
• Support reviews of secure development, vulnerability management, SBOMs, third-party and supply-chain risk, ZTA, and AI security.
• Support incident-readiness exercises, lessons learned, training materials, and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with security, technology, product, sales, delivery, customer, and support teams in a multicultural environment.

What you will bring:

• Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, telecommunications, engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
• Foundational knowledge of cybersecurity and exposure to areas such as risk, security controls, privacy, or vulnerability management., security controls, privacy, vulnerability and incident management, business continuity, and third-party risk.
• Introductory awareness of frameworks and practices such as NIST, ISO/IEC 27001, OWASP Top 10, secure development, and governance, risk, and compliance.
• Familiarity with ZTA and AI security concepts, including identity-centric access, least privilege, AI-related threats, data protection, and responsible AI.
• Ability to summarize research, check sources, and handle information responsibly.
• Interest in telecommunications and the security of mobile networks, cloud infrastructure, software, hardware, and third-party components.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
• A collaborative, curious, and dependable approach to working across teams, changing priorities & willingness to ask questions and learn.

Helpful experience:

• Relevant coursework, research, projects, or extracurricular activities related to cybersecurity, networking, cloud computing, software engineering, privacy, risk management, ZTA, or AI security.
• Exposure to security tools, data analysis, scripting, or documentation platforms.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets and presentations; programming experience is helpful but not required.
• Familiarity with incident response, threat modeling, vulnerability management, SBOMs, third-party risk, customer assurance, or regulatory analysis.
• Experience organizing technical or business requirements into trackers, checklists, presentations, or requirements matrices.

Eligibility requirements:

• 2.7+ GPA on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.
• Available for a full-time internship for 12 weeks.
• Actively enrolled in an accredited undergraduate, master's, or PhD on a full-time basis at a four-year college or university at the time of the internship
