FloSports is a world-class sports media company strategically positioned to be the essential  destination for passionate sports fans, delighting them with live event coverage, breaking news,  highlights, stats, rankings, and team and player profiles. We are growing Our Sports every day  by continuing to invest in our ever-expanding ecosystem, which consists of over a dozen sport  verticals and hundreds of streaming partners. FloSports is creating the home for college  conferences/leagues and sports like grappling, hockey, track & field, racing, cheer, wrestling,  and more, and we are looking for innovative and passionate people like you to help us! 

THE ROLE: 

FloSports is seeking a Vice President of Business Development – Content Acquisition to lead the identification, evaluation, and execution of new sport verticals to drive platform expansion. This senior leadership role will focus on mapping the competitive landscape, assessing opportunities, and building internal consensus on priority sports verticals before executing media rights acquisitions or potential company acquisitions to establish FloSports within new categories.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in sports media rights, strategic business development, and corporate acquisitions, with a proven ability to identify emerging sports markets and secure high-impact partnerships.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Content Acquisition Strategy & Execution
  • Identify and analyze new sport verticals with high-growth potential for FloSports.

  • Conduct competitive landscape analysis, assessing market demand, fan engagement potential, and revenue opportunities across different sports.

  • Develop a near- and long-term roadmap for each potential new sport vertical, outlining media rights accessibility, market entry strategies, and monetization potential.

  • Build internal consensus on priority sports by presenting data-driven business cases to executive leadership.

Media Rights & Business Acquisition Strategy
  • Lead and execute media rights acquisition for selected new sport verticals, negotiating agreements with leagues, federations, event organizers, and content owners.

  • Explore and execute potential company acquisitions to accelerate market entry into priority sports verticals.

  • Structure strategic partnerships with rights holders that align with FloSports’ growth objectives and business model.

  • Collaborate with legal and finance teams to ensure deals are financially sound, scalable, and aligned with FloSports’ long-term vision.

Relationship Management & Industry Engagement
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the sports industry, including media rights holders, event promoters, and governing bodies.

  • Represent FloSports at industry conferences, networking events, and strategic meetings to source new opportunities.

  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams, including content, marketing, product, and operations, to ensure seamless execution of newly acquired sports verticals.

Revenue & Growth Optimization
  • Design and execute business models for new verticals, incorporating subscription,, sponsorship, and advertising revenue streams.

  • Utilize data and analytics to assess performance and optimize rights acquisition strategies.

  • Monitor contract compliance and performance metrics to ensure maximum value extraction from acquired media rights.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  

  • 10+ years of experience in sports media, business development, content acquisition, or corporate development.

  • Proven track record of identifying, evaluating, and securing media rights deals and/or M&A transactions in the sports industry.

  • Deep understanding of sports media rights valuation, distribution models (OTT, linear, digital), and industry trends.

  • Strong network within the sports ecosystem, particularly with leagues, federations, event organizers, and rights holders.

  • Ability to balance data-led decision-making with creative deal structuring.

  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.

  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasting ROI, and structuring revenue models.

  • Passion for sports and an understanding of fan engagement dynamics across niche and emerging sports markets.
