Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Vice President, South-Central Regional Underwriting Manager as part of our Commercial Management Liability team.


Our Sompo Commercial Management Liability team offers diverse capabilities targeted at providing Directors & Officers, Employment Practices, Fiduciary, and Commercial Crime Liability coverages for publicly-traded and privately-held companies, as well as not-for-profit organizations. We work through a network of Retail & Wholesale brokers who share our commitment to long-term partnerships built on a strong service proposition.

What you will be doing:

• Direct management responsibilities for South Central’s Commercial Management Liability Team and providing one point of over-authority for those underwriters.

• Underwriting of Private and Public Company Directors and Officers Insurance, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability and Crime.

• Ability to evaluate all individual risk characteristics and properly determine capacity, attachment point, terms and pricing

• Regional Underwriting Managers are responsible for setting / tracking / reporting monthly budgets with Zonal oversight.

• Maintain and enhance existing broker relationships as well as identify and develop new relationship within the South-Central region (mainly Texas, but also includes Oklahoma, Louisiana, New Mexico and Arkansas)

• Develop and execute marketing plan aimed at retaining existing business and producing new opportunities that fit with in the Sompo’s Commercial Management Liability Division risk appetite

• Ability to participate in account discussions while exercising discretion and independent judgment in the analysis and evaluation of risk

• Ability to effectively interact, communicate and negotiate with all levels of external and/or internal business partners.


What you will be bring:

• Established relationships with Retail and Wholesale Network in South Central Marketplace

• Minimum of 5 years of Professional lines Underwriting Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Strong analytical and organizational skills

• Willingness to travel regularly as required by the role, including at least monthly travel to Dallas if based in Houston.
