Vice President, Finance – Communications 

Role Summary 

The VP, Finance – Communications serves as the senior finance partner to the Communications business leadership team, providing strategic, commercial, and operational financial leadership across a global, complex, and rapidly growing portfolio. This role is accountable for driving profitable growth, disciplined capital allocation, cash flow optimization, and risk management, while building scalable financial processes and strong business partnership across Commercial, Operations, and Supply Chain.  

The role acts as a trusted advisor to the Communications Business President and leadership team, translating strategy into financial outcomes and ensuring financial rigor across forecasting, pricing, investments, and execution for this product business. 

Key Responsibilities 

Strategic & Business Partnership 

• Serve as the primary finance advisor to Communications executive leadership, influencing strategy, growth priorities, and resource allocation. 

• Partner closely with Commercial, Operations, and Supply Chain leaders to align financial objectives with business execution. 

• Facilitate long‑range planning, including annual operating plans and multi‑year strategic plans for Communications product business.  

Financial Performance & Analytics 

• Own product P&L management for the Communications segment, including revenue, margin, operating income, and cash flow performance. 

• Lead forecasting and variance analysis, providing clear, data‑driven insights into performance drivers, risks, and opportunities. 

• Deliver executive‑level financial commentary that connects operational outcomes to financial results.  

 

Commercial Finance & Risk Management 

• Ensure all customer quotations, pricing models, and commercial deals appropriately reflect risk, return, and capital considerations (including Risk‑Adjusted ROIC). 

• Review and approve financial aspects of new customer contracts and major program expansions. Support with financial modeling and anticipate future business needs. 

• Partner with business teams to proactively identify, mitigate, and manage commercial, customer, and execution risks.  

Cash Flow, Working Capital & Capital Allocation 

• Drive disciplined working capital management and cash flow optimization across Communications operations. 

• Provide financial leadership on capital investments, capacity expansions, automation, and footprint decisions in support of growth. 

• Support governance and prioritization of capital deployment aligned with business strategy.  

Organizational Leadership & Talent Development 

• Build, lead, and develop a high‑performing Communications finance organization across regions. 

• Establish clear roles, accountability, and scalable finance processes to support business growth. 

• Act as a role model for collaboration, analytical rigor, and leadership across the broader Finance organization.  

Governance & Reviews 

• Lead quarterly financial reviews with senior leadership, ensuring transparency, accountability, and action orientation. 

• Ensure compliance with corporate finance policies, internal controls, and external reporting requirements.  

 

 

Qualifications & Experience 

• MBA or equivalent advanced degree in Finance or related field strongly preferred. 

• 15+ years of progressive finance leadership experience in a global, publicly traded manufacturing, industrial, or technology‑enabled company; senior‑level roles typically require 15–18+ years. 

• Deep experience partnering with business leaders in complex, multi‑region environments. 

• Strong background in commercial finance, pricing, capital investment analysis, and P&L leadership. 

• Demonstrated ability to lead and scale finance teams in high‑growth environments.

• Embedded commercial rigor across pricing, contracts, and investment decisions, ensuring returns appropriately reflect risk and capital intensity. 

• Built a high‑performing, engaged finance team with clear accountability, strong business acumen, and a solid succession pipeline. 

• Demonstrated a hands‑on leadership style, personally engaging in critical forecasts, business cases, and problem‑solving during periods of growth, change, or underperformance.
