Tecovas was founded with the simple goal of making the world's best western boots, apparel and leather goods — and selling them at a fair price. We are a brand revolutionizing a category and welcoming first-time boot buyers and western enthusiasts alike.

Tecovas is looking for a Wholesale Planning Manager. Reporting to the Director of Planning, you will own the plan for our entire wholesale channel - forecasting, buying, and inventory - and you will lead the planner who helps you run it. As our wholesale business grows, you’ll own and evolve the planning function—strengthening forecasting, buying, inventory management, and reporting while building more scalable processes and sharper decision-making. You’ll lead a Wholesale Planner and partner closely with Wholesale Sales, DTC Planning, Merchandising, and Sales Ops to connect account-level demand with our broader financial and inventory goals. You’ll bring clarity to risks and opportunities, turn data into actionable recommendations, and give leadership a clear, forward-looking view of where the channel is headed.

This role is required to be based in Austin, TX. Candidates must either be currently located in or willing to relocate to Austin, TX.

What you'll do

Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage, coach, and develop the Wholesale Planner, supporting their growth into expanded scope as the channel grows.
  • Set clear ownership between manager and planner across categories — footwear with this role, apparel and accessories with the planner today — and evolve that split as the planner develops.
  • Review pre-season plans, category Open to Buy, and reporting before it reaches leadership, coaching to the analysis rather than correcting the output.
  • Identify development opportunities for the team and build the case for team structure as the business scales.

Category, Item & Account Forecasting

  • Own the pre-season buy forecasting process for the wholesale channel, reconciling top-down financial targets with bottom-up style, color, and size plans against sales team forecasts.
  • Pressure-test the demand forecast behind seasonal assortments ahead of market, partnering with Merchandising and Sales on SKU counts, class plans, and risks to initial markup and financial targets.
  • Own wholesale purchase orders, partnering with the DTC planning team to place them in line with production timelines, minimum order quantities, and capacity.

Financial Updates & Reporting

  • Own the monthly Open to Buy process for the wholesale channel, incorporating account-level demand, current trends, and future projections to maximize opportunities and mitigate risk.
  • Own planning inputs to the seasonal investment review and represent the wholesale inventory position in that forum.
  • Set reporting standards for the team, including what is measured, at what cadence, and in what format.
  • Communicate key item investments, best and worst sellers, drivers of variance, and their impact on the bottom line to management, with recommended action.

Inventory Management

  • Manage weekly sell-in, sell-through, and available-to-sell performance to ensure inventory availability across accounts.
  • Own seasonal item transition planning and communicate changes to downstream teams.
  • Provide inventory inputs for key department store hold orders and partner with Sales Operations on order validation.
  • Partner with the DTC planning team on style risk, channel transfers, receipt needs, and pre-season capacity planning.
  • Communicate inventory positions across teams, proactively flagging out-of-stock risk and overstock exposure with recommended mitigation strategies.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Work across NetSuite, WFX, Invent AI, and EDI and retailer portals, and lead planning's role in demand planning and ERP implementations and upgrades.
  • Leverage AI tools to build scalable, efficient reporting that surfaces insights quickly and drives smarter planning conversations.
  • Lead quarterly and seasonal hindsight reviews, translating findings into process improvements for future seasons.

Experience we're looking for

  • 7+ years of experience in wholesale and DTC planning, preferably within footwear, apparel, or accessories.
  • Experience managing, mentoring, or formally developing at least one direct report or junior analyst.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Merchandising, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced analytical and Excel modeling ability, with working experience in an ERP and a demand planning or planning system.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, and the communication range to move between a spreadsheet and a leadership conversation without losing the thread.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
  • Ability to travel to market twice a year.

What you bring to the table

  • You're a natural business partner - collaborative, communicative, and excited to work cross-functionally across the company.
  • You enjoy developing people and take real satisfaction in helping someone grow into more responsibility.
  • You have a strong curiosity for solving complex business problems; you know how to dive into the data, find the meaning, and turn it into decisions that drive results.
  • You're energized by using AI and emerging tools to build smarter, faster reporting that makes a real impact on the business.
  • You're a self-starter who can manage multiple priorities, communicate clearly, and work independently when needed.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment and bring strong problem-solving skills to every challenge.
  • You lead with kindness, transparency, and integrity in everything you do.

Full Time Benefits & Perks:

  • We offer insurance plans that pay 79-90% of your health premium coverage and 100% of your dental & vision insurance coverage for your family/dependents
  • 401(k) match
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Flexible PTO policy
  • Corporate wellness program
  • Competitive salary - $115,000-$130,000/annum (commensurate with experience)
