Join the Payments Data & Analytics Customer Insights team where we leverage data science, research, and business acumen to promote client-focused innovation and apply your technical expertise to lead analytics and GenAI/agentic AI initiatives that generate actionable merchant and consumer insights, inform product strategy, and deliver measurable impact for Chase Merchant Services clients.

As a Data Scientist Senior Associate, within the Payments Data & Analytics Customer Insights team, you will be responsible for leading and executing big data analytics projects in response to product innovation for Merchant Services and deliver insights that optimize merchant location strategy and targeted marketing for small business merchants, as well as generate deep consumer and business insights. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build customer insights workstreams: frame business problems, define hypotheses, identify success metrics, design analyses, and deliver recommendations with clear commercial impact.
  • Develop scalable datasets and pipelines using tools such as Snowflake, SQL, and Python, enabling repeatable reporting, experimentation, and advanced analytics.
  • Design and refine prompts to improve AI model performance. Work with subject matter experts to align prompts with business goals and user needs and iterate data model designs to enhance functionality and user experience. Conduct rigorous testing for reliability and effectiveness.
  • Drive GenAI solution development: partner with SMEs and product partners to prototype and iterate on LLM-powered assistants and workflow automations; translate business needs into effective prompts, retrieval strategies, and agent workflows.
  • Monitor AI model performance, identify areas for enhancement, and implement updates to maintain quality and relevance.
  • Partner with data owners, product managers, data engineers, and other stakeholders to aid in the development of data models, algorithms and ensure solutions are scalable. 
  • Communicate results, insights, and recommendations clearly to business stakeholders and senior leadership and support Customer Insights applications, as well as custom client analytics requests on an ad hoc basis.
     

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) or a related field; Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience.
  • Strong programming skills in in Python and SQL for data processing and analysis.
  • Expertise in quantitative research techniques and analytics using Python and SQL.
  • Proven critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills with ability to translate strategy into deliverables.
  • Knowledge of machine learning/data science theory, techniques, and tools.
  • Experience in leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) and agent AI techniques.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and cultivate strong partnerships.
     

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Experience in data analysis, data science, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with AWS, Snowflake for data management and analysis.
  • Understanding of quality assurance practices and the importance of data integrity.
  • Familiarity with evaluation/monitoring concepts for GenAI solutions (e.g., test cases, human-in-the-loop feedback, basic quality metrics) to support reliable deployments.
