The opportunity

As an Electro-Mechanical Integration Engineer within our Equipment Development Team, you will play a key role in designing and integrating electrical panels and cabling for our custom manufacturing equipment. This hands-on position offers the chance to lead prototype builds, collaborate on cutting-edge systems, and drive the transfer to production partners, contributing directly to innovative manufacturing solutions.

Location: This position requires full on-site presence at our Austin, TX facility to ensure seamless collaboration and hands-on support for daily operations. Relocation assistance is available for non-local candidates.

What you’ll do

  • Design electrical panels, cabling, and integration schemes for systems incorporating sensors, actuators, motion controls, cameras, and computers
  • Utilize electrical schematic software to create detailed diagrams and layouts
  • Provide direction to a small team of technicians in assembling and testing first-article custom equipment
  • Oversee the transfer of designs and build processes to domestic partners for low-volume duplication, including documentation and training
  • Collaborate with mechanical, software, and optics engineers to ensure seamless system integration and resolve issues
  • Maintain meticulous documentation of designs, builds, and modifications to support scalability
  • Perform hands-on assembly and integration, balancing design work with practical implementation to refine prototypes

The experience you bring

  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience in designing and building electrical panels/cabling for manufacturing or automation equipment
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Proficiency in electrical schematic software ( Altium or equivalent)
  • Proficiency in mechanical CAD tools (CREO or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of precision components such as sensors, actuators, motion control, and vision systems
  • Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail for managing documentation, timelines, and workflows
  • Hands-on experience in equipment assembly and integration in lab or build environments
  • Ability to lead small teams and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for partner handoffs or on-site support

It’s exciting if you also have

  • Background in precision optics or semiconductor manufacturing equipment
  • Project management experience, including tools for tracking builds and transfers
  • Strong problem-solving abilities in fast-paced, custom engineering settings
