Mission

TAR’s mission is to power intelligence for the world. We are building the world’s first off-grid power plant for data centers powered by renewable technologies.

We firmly believe AI should be built in the US for the benefit of all people. For that, power must be fast, clean and scalable. We are singularly focused on delivering GW-scale power faster than anyone has ever done, by rethinking every layer of the stack.

We vertically integrate to solve every bottleneck, from racking systems to power electronics to dispatch algorithms to on-site construction.

Leave your mark on the future of civilization-scale energy infrastructure.

Company

TAR is both a hardware and software company, we are building out massive, critical, physical infrastructure. TAR is working directly with one of the largest compute providers to scale and deploy 5GWs by 2028.

We operate on…

  • High ownership. High Agency. Own project end-to-end. Great people don’t need to be managed.

  • Speed. We achieve great things on incredible timelines. We push ourselves to go faster.

  • First principles. No ego. No hierarchy. Challenge every assumption.

  • Passion. Solving the energy problem is one of the largest challenges that faces the world now and in the future.

About the role

TAR builds fully islanded, off-grid solar and storage campuses that power AI data centers, plus the proprietary racking and construction robots to build them at GW scale. Our engineering, software, and robotics teams work out of San Francisco, including a dedicated robotics test facility where the machines headed for hundreds of MW of construction get built and tested. As Operations Manager, you own the operational machinery behind that work: tools and equipment on site and working, contractors and vendors coordinated, parts arriving on time, and the facility safe and running. You keep the technical team unblocked so engineers spend their time engineering, not chasing logistics. This is a hands-on, mid-level operator seat based in San Francisco: you own problems end to end, from purchase order to loading dock.

Responsibilities
  • Run day-to-day operations of our San Francisco office and robotics facility, keeping the workshop organized, stocked, and safe so engineers can build without friction.

  • Own tools and equipment end to end: purchasing, on-site availability, maintenance, and repair, so nothing on the build schedule waits on hardware.

  • Coordinate contractors and vendors for facility buildout, maintenance, and specialized work, from scoping and scheduling through completion and payment.

  • Unblock the technical team daily: source parts, chase deliveries, handle receiving and returns, and resolve whatever stands between an engineer and their next test.

  • Run purchasing and inbound and outbound logistics for the robotics program, including shipments of parts, equipment, and hardware between San Francisco and our West Texas site.

  • Set and maintain basic shop safety practices, including training, PPE, signage, and housekeeping, in a facility with heavy machines under test.

  • Build lightweight processes for inventory, asset, and spend tracking that keep the operation legible without slowing anyone down.

  • Own operational special projects end to end, from facility improvements to new equipment installs, defining scope and driving them to done.

Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in an operational role such as workshop, lab, facility, manufacturing, or field operations.

  • Track record of owning projects end to end, from ambiguous ask through delivered result.

  • Hands-on by default: you are comfortable moving equipment, assembling benches, and fixing things yourself, not just coordinating from behind a screen.

  • Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, and service providers, including negotiating scope and holding them to schedule.

  • Strong organization and follow-through across many parallel threads, with clear, direct communication with engineers and outside parties.

  • Sound judgment and bias for action in low-structure situations: you find the fastest safe path and take it.

Nice to have
  • Operations experience at a hardware, robotics, or manufacturing startup.

  • Familiarity with shop equipment and basic EHS practices for a workshop with heavy machinery.

  • Experience with purchasing, inventory, or asset-tracking systems and spend tooling.

  • Forklift certification or experience rigging and moving heavy equipment.

Salary and Benefits
  • Up to $15K relocation bonus

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Health, Dental, Vision insurance

  • $1K monthly stipend for meals
