The Staff Software Engineer will shape technical direction, build developer platforms, and design AI agents, enhancing developer productivity and collaboration across teams.

Design, build, and operate large-scale data platforms and Spark/PySpark pipelines. Enable data integration, modeling, quality, and observability. Build MCP servers and AI-augmented tooling, mentor engineers, and lead cross-functional projects to deliver reliable data products.

Design, build, and maintain scalable Spark-based ETL pipelines and computed tables in a central data lake. Integrate structured and unstructured IoT, sensor, and external data for analytics, model training, and dashboards. Collaborate with Data Science, Analytics, and ML teams to ensure reliable, high-quality customer-facing datasets.

Design, build, and operate scalable, secure data platform infrastructure for ingesting, processing, cataloging, and accessing petabytes of data. Improve Spark/Databricks reliability and developer experience, build ingestion/replication systems, develop internal libraries and tooling (Go/Python), and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support analytics, ML, and customer-facing data products.

Lead strategic sourcing and supplier relationships for direct hardware commodities. Run negotiations, NPI sourcing, should-cost and cost-down programs, supply-continuity and dual-source strategies, and supplier performance management. Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Finance, Planning, Legal, and Operations. Mentor analysts and supply managers, deploy procurement analytics and AI use cases, and drive measurable cost and supply outcomes across global suppliers and contract manufacturers.

Partner with regional sales to lead technical pre-sales for enterprise customers: map requirements to solutions, run hardware POCs and SaaS dashboard setups, support API integrations, mentor other SEs, and drive complex deal execution and project delivery.

Design, deliver, and scale onboarding and ongoing enablement programs for Customer Success and Renewals. Build multi-modal training (eLearning, virtual workshops, AI-led activities), partner with managers to improve time-to-productivity, iterate using learner feedback and data, and embed Samsara cultural principles across global teams.

Manage enterprise customer implementations of Samsara’s IoT platform, from deployment planning through adoption and value realization. Create launch roadmaps, track implementation progress and account health, conduct training and demonstrations, and resolve challenges with executives and end users. Coordinate with Sales, Support, Sales Engineering, and Product while managing multiple engagements. Mentor Customer Success and Support teams and build trusted stakeholder relationships.
